A little backwards, but it should be okay.

I think Alyssa is confused. She's does things a little backwards. She talks on the phone upside down. If you hand her the phone facing the correct way... she'll put it up to her ear, then look at it, turn it around and put it back up to her ear before she says "hi". So on my cell phone, she talks into the screen. The screen of my cell phone is a often covered in slobber.

She also reads upside down. You hand her a book to read (the correct way) and she will turn it upside down before opening it up and reading it.

This has all been really cute and endearing... until today when she was tackling a puzzle. It's the first Melissa and Doug puzzle that I think is terrible. What were they thinking? Alyssa is starting to grasp that you match the shapes and they fit inside the cut out. Of course, she has to put them in upside down. This will work for the rectangle... and it should work for the circle, oval and square... but it doesn't! If she puts the circle in upside down, it gets stuck and doesn't go all the way in. It's the same for the square and oval. So, she does one of two things... she either shrieks in frustration (not good on the ears) or she tries to put it in another shape thinking she has it wrong. This puzzle will not be around for long.

I know she does things backwards, but there are somethings that should support this. A shape puzzle with squares and circles should.
